Book: A Piano for Christmas 

 

This book, by local author Polly Basore, continues the story of Simon the stray cat. The gently-told story delivers a simple message about how best to care for  people left behind when someone dies. This new book is a beautifully written and illustrated guide for families dealing with grief and loss.  Written by Dr. Helen Reiner, former Three Trees executive director, it helps answer the question, "what do we do now?" It is available for a $10 suggested donation at the Three Trees office.

Books as Resources

 

Libraries are a good place to begin to find resources for both your children and for yourself. Today there are many books, videos, and other tools to help families.

 The Centering Corporation (www.centering.org) and Compassion Books (www.compassionbooks.com) offer a wealth of information and resources both for adults caring for children, as well as for children themselves to read. You may contact them to request a free catalogue. Also, Center for Loss and Transition has books for adults and children, (www.centerforloss.com)

 Three Trees, Inc. has an extensive library of books for children and their families.  All books are available to be checked out for a reasonable period of time.  Call 316.263.3335 for more information or to request a bibliography list.
